The 38th MediaKids Orientation Course was successfully held on the 3rd and 6th of May, 2022 at the Institute of East Asian Studies in Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus, located in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area. Over 50 foreign teachers for the incoming semester arrived from abroad & from other cities across Thailand and were checked in for one night prior to their course date at the university’s in-campus DLUXX Hotel, courtesy of MediaKids.

To adjust and adapt to the global pandemic, MediaKids conducts training sessions via Zoom as well as a one-day in-person orientation course in order to prepare teachers for living and working in Thailand before traveling to their school placements. Content covered during the online training includes information and helpful tips about teaching in Thailand, Thai language and culture, MediaKids Academy expectations, and school-specific information. Teachers also get to attend a program-specific workshop, do a live teaching demonstration, and are provided with assistance and necessary paperwork to open a Thai bank account & apply for accident insurance during the in-person orientation course.

Aside from meeting the staff who will support them throughout the semester, they also have the chance to get to know other foreign teachers, which makes for a great opportunity to make connections and start their experience in a friendly and encouraging environment.
